MDOT MVA encourages customers to take advantage of the many services and transactions that can be completed online. Visit myMVA eServices to create a profile and see the many services and information that can be completed on your computer, phone or tablet. Our 24-hour self-service business kiosks, and 24/7 VEIP self-service kiosks can all be accessed at your convenience. VEIP stations do NOT offer appointments, just drive up at your convenience during normal business hours. **Please note that due to the COVID-19 emergency, the delivery of products, like driver’s licenses and registration stickers, is taking longer than expected. All VEIP full service stations are operating normally. MDOT MVA does not offer appointments for a VEIP inspection, just drive up at your convenience during business hours. If your vehicle was built 2005 or later you may be eligible to complete your VEIP test at a self-service kiosk .
If you are unsure of your VEIP test due date visit our VEIP test lookup.In response to the state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the MDOT MVA has approved the emergency use of distance learning to provide the certified driver education program only for the period of time a state of emergency is declared in Maryland. Schools offering distance learning have certified that the system they will be using meets all the standards outlined by MDOT MVA, as well as all other regulatory requirements for approval by MDOT MVA. Contact a driving school near you to see if it is certified to provide distance learning.
Customers have a few options. They may drop off tags at any one of our tag return drop boxes . Customers are able to cancel their insurance once they drop their tags in the return bin. MDOT MVA will use the date on the tag return form as the cancellation date. Additionally, customers may mail in tags to our Glen Burnie headquarters . Travelers with a state driver’s license that expired beginning on March 1, 2020, and who are not able to renew at their state driver’s license agency may still use it as acceptable identification at the checkpoint. TSA will accept expired driver’s licenses a year after the expiration date, plus 60 days after the duration of the COVID-19 national emergency.
